Hello PASS
Members,
I found this
great tool that should be circulated to anyone who wants to compare our current
tax rates with surrounding communities.
This 2008
calculator applies to bills due in 2009. Rates are per $100,000 of property value.
What
is REALLY great about this calculator is it also breaks down how much out
of each tax bill goes to the local school district, library, park system, town
and other government bodies.
Here are some numbers
that I feel speak for
themselves:
Streetsboro:$1342 ($929 goes to CSD)
Kent: $1868 ($1370 goes to CSD)
Hudson: $2018 ($1370 goes to CSD)
Aurora: $1706 ($1258 goes to CSD)
Twinsburg: $1616 ($1056
goes to CSD)
Ravenna: $1507 ($1042 goes to
CSD)
Ravenna Twp.:$1680
($1042 goes to CSD)
Based on the numbers projected by the treasurer
our funds will increase to $1220 per
year for 2010 and then DECREASE to
$1128 per year for 2011 and beyond.
I think two other very important
points overlooked are that this levy will only cost a
homeowner $199 a year per $100,000
after Jan.
1, 2011.
And, that all of our property tax values were lowered by 5% this
year.
This comes directly
from the school website:
Q: How much
will the levy cost?
A: The 9.5-mill levy will cost the owner of a $100,000
home approximately $291 in additional taxes during calendar year 2010. However,
taxes will decrease in calendar year 2011 due to the expiration of the
3.5-mill levy that is currently in effect as passed by the voters in August
2005. Based upon millage rates currently in effect, the owner of a $100,000 home
will see a reduction in taxes for calendar year 2011 of approximately $92. As
a result, the net increase of the 9.5-mill levy when coupled with the expiration
of the 3.5-mill levy will be approximately $199 for calendar year 2011 and
beyond.
I know these numbers are what some
people are looking for. I hope this helps. Please pass it on to as many people as
possible.
